From October 5-9, classes at Paducah ISD will be competing in the annual canned food drive sponsored each year by the Paducah Area Food Pantry. The stakes are high and the winning class in each category: elementary, junior high and high school will receive an ice cream party for all of their hard work.
Paducah ISD donates all of the collected food to the food pantry and it's not unusual to collect in excess of 1,000 cans of food. So if a PISD student asks you to donate, please give generously, but only canned food, as fresh produce and soft packaged food may spoil or get damaged before it can be donated. to the the food pantry and does this annually. Food drive organizers say the food drive offers all students the chance to give back to their community and give back through service.
On winning the prize in high school for the last three years, the senior class says, “We are going for a four-peat!”
