Dragon Band Competes At District Marching Contest

Posted Date: 11/06/2015

Last week the Pride of Paducah Marching Band competed at UIL district marching competition at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.  The band had a 9:30 a. m. performance time so they were up early and were fed breakfast by the band boosters before leaving for contest. The band has been working on their show since summer band practice in August and have been marching the show at halftime of the Dragon football games. The band competed with Munday, Knox City and Throckmorton bands for the opportunity to advance.

Despite their hard work, and a II ranking at the previous week's practice festival, the band was disappointed to score a III with the UIL judges.

“I thought we did okay. The 1A’s were judged a little bit harder because there wasn’t an area contest for us. We will try again in two years,”  band director Lee Brossette said.

“I felt we did better than the week before but with different judges you can never tell. I’m still very proud of the band,”  senior trumpet player Leslie Mayo said.
