The PJH Lizards are still unbeaten as they now enter the second round of district play. The boys stand at 5-0 and show little sign of slowing down on their way to an undefeated season, much like the performance they turned in during football season, rolling over their opponents with little opposition.
Last Thursday, the Spur Bulldogs came to town to see if their luck had improved over the beating they took on their home court earlier in the season at the hands of the Lizards. But the game got off to a quick start when the Lizards immediately went on a 12-0 run and took the momentum with them for the entire first quarter. The team played tight defensively, not giving up a single point in the first quarter. But the second quarter proved a different story when Spur scored 14 unanswered points to go in to the halftime break ahead of the very frustrated Lizards by one basket.
But the Lizards came out with a new attitude after the half and eight grader Keyvondra Richardson added nine quick points to lift the team ahead of the Bulldogs. The Lizards put the game away in the fourth behind the strong eighth grade leadership and once again sent the Bulldogs packing, 36-22.
