Stock season officially kicked off last week with the 120th Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. This oldest and most prestigious stock show in the country draws hundreds of competitors in each division and spans nearly three weeks. Several PHS students will exhibited sheep and goats last week. Senior Kristyn Deaton, showed in the first class of light weight goats and placed 11th. In the medium weight goat division, sophomore Hayden Wright, placed 8th in class eight. Also in the medium weight goat division, senior Hailey Wright, placed 7th in class nine. Senior Shelby Smith was the only exhibitor with a lamb. Smith was in the medium wool heavy weight division, but had a little tough luck and didn’t place.
“I’m really sad that this was my last time to show at Fort Worth, because I’ve been going to Fort Worth for so many years showing pigs, steers, and goats,” senior Kristyn Deaton said. Stay tuned for more stock show results as the season progresses.
