The Lady Dragons took on the Meadow Lady Broncos in Ralls last Tuesday in the regional quarterfinal game. The Lady Dragons caught fire early on in the game and secured a 10 point lead by the end of the first, 13-3. In the second quarter, the Lady Broncs began climbing out of the hole they found themselves in but they could not find a way to stop the hot hand of sophomore Ebony Hampton. Hampton managed to score all over the defense of the Lady Broncos, putting up 11 points in the second quarter. The ladies held a 28-15 lead going in to the locker room at the half.
The halftime break didn’t cool the Lady Dragons and they came out blazing, scoring 15 and holding the Lady Broncs scoreless the entire quarter. As the fourth quarter opened, Paducah held a commanding lead, 43-15. The ladies were one quarter away from the regional tournament, but the Lady Broncs would not go quietly. Meadow outscored the Lady 19 points to 8 points in the fourth but the Lady Dragons held off the Bronco charge and won 51-34 to take home the regional quarterfinal gold ball trophy. High scorers for the Dragons were sophomore Ebony Hampton with 17 points, and senior Leslie Mayo with 14 points.
