     Last week the Paducah High School and Junior High cheerleaders were announced. The 2016-2017 PHS cheerleaders will be seniors Bailey Lambert and Madison Beck; junior Dani Medford, sophomores Marley Beck, Haley Hutchinson and Kyanna Hurd and freshmen Olivia Ramos and Addyson Bowles. The mascot will be sophomore Caylin Flemons. Only eight girls signed up to try out for the eight available positions, so there was no need for tryouts.  

     However in junior high, there were eight girls trying out for six spots on the squad. The Lizard 2016-2017 cheerleaders will be (incoming) 8th graders Emily Hart, Riley Guerrero, Harleigh Detwiler, Marissa O'Con and Julia Hargrave, and 7th grader Jodi Beck. 

     Judges from Lone Star Cheer Association ranked the girls on a dance, cheer and two jumps.  

     “I’m happy to be cheering again and I expect for this year to be a fun and exciting year will all of my amazing teammates,” cheerleader Dani Medford said.

     “I’m very excited for next year. We have a great cheer squad and I’m looking forward to working with all my girls,” cheerleader Emily Hart said. 

Cheer sponsor Leslie Hutchison said, "Being state champions last year, and with our new girls we have this year, I believe we can do it again. I am super excited to see what we have in store."
