7th Grade Lizards Send Bull Pups Packing

Posted Date: 09/26/2015

With 29 7th and 8th graders out for junior high football, two teams have been formed to play schools who may also have a large junior high participation. The Lizards 7th grade team met the Spur Bull Pups on the Bull Pups home turf last week, but had no problem schooling the smaller team.
In the first quarter, Jacob Lecroy got things rolling for the Lizards a touchdown on the team's first possesion.  Jonathon Henderson rolled to an easy touchdown barely three minutes in to the game. The play was called back on a block in the back call against the Lizards. In a repeat performance of the original play, Henderson again ran in untouched from the 20 yard line.
In the second quarter, Chris Martinez scored up the middle from the 30 with Tate Hutchinson adding the extra point. Late in the half, Joe McClellan scored on a run from the 5 yard line. The point after attempt resulted in an incomplete pass.  The Lizards defense barely gave the Bull Pups room to breath, swarming the ball runner on each down.  The Lizards held a solid 31-0 lead by halftime.
After the half, Darius Flemons added another score behind stellar blocking on the line. Tate Hutchinson ran, untouched, for another score from the five yard line. The point after kick was no good. The Lizards were within 2 points of going home early, 43-0.  The Bull Pups fumbled the kick off which was recovered by Casey Votaw who dragged two Bull Pups in to the end zone with him to score and end the game, 49-0 with three minutes left in the third quarter.
